Tri-County Gun Club Youth Series: Teaching Safety to Our Children!
Tri county has a great program for beginning to intermediate shooters age 8-18: Introduction to Rifle program. The program is strong in firearm safety, responsibility, and fundamentals of shooting rifles. The Program has at its foundation, basic safety. The class is interactive and fun. Safety on the range is key but the class also uses Eddie Eagle principles to keep our children safe at home and in the community. Eddie Eagle teaches “Stop-Don't Touch-Run Away-Tell an Adult” when you encounter a gun off the range.
The TCGC Youth Series consists of 3 classes, each class teaching progressively greater marksmanship skills and longer distances while practicing safety protocols and the basic fundamentals of shooting. The course breaks marksmanship down to basics, takes the boogeyman out of it, and teaches kids how much fun it can be to shoot .22 rifles, SAFELY. Kids come out of the first class with a firm foundation in the safe handling of firearms, and most are shooting ½” groups at the indoor range.
The TCGC Youth Series is taught to member and non-member kids, and if the parents are new-to-shooting, we teach them along with their youth in the class. Since most kids' first firearm will be a .22 rifle, it is a good place to start.
