Camp Baker Shooting Sports Director / Range Master
Camp Baker is a 164 acre Boy Scout Resident Camp located 8 miles south of Florence, OR. Camp Baker serves about 1000 youth in the 8.5 weeks in operation each summer. Shooting sports is an important part of any Boy Scout Summer Camp and it takes a qualified staff to run it. Archery, 22,s, BB,s, Slingshots, Shotguns, Black powder, Pistols, and even tomahawks are used at camp for skill development, fun, and adventure under safe leadership.
We are looking for a qualified individual to serve as the Shooting Sports Director. This person would need the following qualifications:

We are looking for a qualified individual to serve as the Shooting Sports Director. This person would need the following qualifications:
- Age: 21 and older as of June 11
- Demeanor: Good with kids and adults. Able to maintain calm in stressful, loud environment. Enjoys camp environment, able to have fun and smile. Ability to lead team or shooting sports instructors and volunteers.
- Physique: Able bodied, able to lift 50 lbs, able to walk 2 miles a day. Able to work/volunteer long hours 6 days per week.
- Skill: Familiar with all types of firearms, able to teach firearm safety
- Certifications: No certs necessary, we train. But current NRA certified instructors would be preferred.
- Availability: June 11-17 for training in Idaho, June 25-August 13 or 23
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to the Camp Program Director (Assistant Camp Director)
- Become a member of the BSA
- Be an example of leadership and character and represent the BSA to all participants and staff
- Supervise all shooting sports at Camp.
- Provide leadership to 2 or more instructors and 3 or more junior assistants
- Instruct shooting sports safety, marksmanship, cleaning, and more
- Be present at all Camp Wide Activities including flag ceremonies, opening and closing ceremonies, campfire presentations and meals
- Be present at all staff meetings and activities
- Responsible for maintaining shooting sports equipment and inventory
- Able to work/volunteer 6 days a week (sun 11am to Saturday 11am) 24 hours off each week.
Compensation:
- Room and Board: All meals provided in a top notch dining hall with food unlike any other camp. Chef Brandon and his team prepares a bounty every meal. Lodging is in small one room cabins.
- Free laundry: Laundry room available 24/7 no quarters needed
- Staff Goodies: Jackets and t shirts provided. Staff must provide their own uniforms (2 complete) (discounts available)
- Stipend: This position pays a Max salary of $185/per week. This is a volunteer positing with a small stipend to offset expenses.

- Training: We send the candidate at our expense to a National Training program put on by the Boy Scouts and the NRA. Graduates leave with instructor certificates in small bore rifle, muzzle loading, shotgun, archery
