In addition to regular business, discipline, legislative and BM114 updates, we will have elections of officers and directors.  
 
This is your chance to become involved in helping run and shape the Oregon State Shooting Association.  OSSA needs members to lead key discipline and drive key business areas.

Here is how to complete your self-nomination:
  • One must be member in good standing at the call of nominations.
  • Select a position of interest,
  • Reply with your self-biography (describe yourself, what you would like to help or contribute, add a picture, if you like.) by March 25, 2024.
 
Your self-nomination will be included in the ballot process starting about April 1.   We will be completing our election using “Election Buddy” for all those with valid emails.  For the 50 or so without emails, traditional mail ballots will be used.
 
The following Officer Positions are open for election. (names included represent incumbents) (2 Year Term July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2026, unless otherwise noted.)
  • President (Kerry Spurgin)
  • Secretary (Lydia Haggland)
  • Treasurer (Allen Harper) (Appointed, requires vote to finish his term to 2025-JUN-30)
 
Director Positions open for election (names included represent incumbents) (2 Year Term, July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2026, unless otherwise noted)
  • Air Firearm and Smallbore Director (Raoul B. Salem)
  • Conventional Pistol Director (Craig L. Griswold)
  • Highpower Rifle Director (Carl Haggland III)
  • Youth Shooting Sports Director (Jonathan "Nelson" Shew)
  • Membership Director (Randall Thieme) (Appointed, requires vote to finish term to 2025-JUN-30)

The new membership fee structure is posted on the Membership Page.   During our annual review of our organization, we noted increased expenses and insurance required to sustain the organization.   This amounts to an additional $3,000.   To help in our decision, the board looked closely at what neighboring states were doing for their membership programs.   The result is a modest increase of membership fees.     In addition, we have enabled a benefit for multiple year memberships.

We have more work to do as an organization to increase memberships and revenues as these rates do not fully cover the gap produced by increased expenses.   Get involved with OSSA and shooting sports, share the shooting experience and our safety/wellness program.  Along way bring others on board.
 
 
 Effective May 3, 2022, the following rates apply. ​   See the Membership Page 

General Membership     1 Year $30.00 / 2 Years $57.00 / 3 Years $85.00
Club Membership          1 Year $70.00 / 2 Years $136.00 / 3 Years $198.00
Collegiate and Junior memberships remain unchanged at $10/year

OSSA Annual Meeting and Elections (your action is needed)

Annual Meeting – May 1, 2022  -  Save the Date!  Oregon State Shooting Association, Inc. (“OSSA”) will hold its annual General Membership Meeting at the Tri-County Gun Club, 13050 Tonquin Road, Sherwood, OR 97140 on Sunday, 2022-MAY-01 at 11:00 AM sharp.  

RSVP to treasurerossa@gmail.com if you would like a free lunch.

Elections:     OSSA Officers and Directors are elected to two-years terms that are staggered by alternating years.  OSSA Officers and Directors must be a member of OSSA.    

Your Action:   Please let us know if you have an interest in one of these positions by sending an e-mail with brief statement of interest and biography to treasurerossa@gmail.com by no later than 2022-FEB-28.

Elections Process:    
  1. Bios submitted by Feb 28, 2022.
  2. Bios posted at ( www.ossa.org/members_bulletin ) and ballots mailed to members by March 28, 2022
  3. Ballots returned to treasurer, by mail, no later than May 1, 2022, 8am.
