Junior Shooting Sports:

Target shooting with small-bore rifles and pistols and air rifles and air pistols is part of one of the largest participant sports in the country. It is open to all, irrespective of age, gender or ability and has a proven track record of improving an individual's concentration and motivation.

Air Rifle Shooting is the most popular and fastest growing form of shooting sports competition for youth of high school age or younger. Precision Air Rifle is modeled after Olympic-style shooting and allows the use of specialized target rifles and equipment.   Sporter Air Rifle is designed for new competitors getting into the sport with a minimum of equipment and expense. In both types of shooting competitors fire at targets at a distance of 10 meters in prone, standing and kneeling position in Precision Rifle and four positions, prone, standing, kneeling and sitting, in Sporter Rifle.

Air Rifle provides youth and adults with competitive shooting sports opportunities that can be
offered on a wide variety of easily accessible or easily constructed ranges, with equipment that is commonly available at affordable costs.

Someone took you hunting for the first time. Someone taught you how to carry a gun safely. How to take a good shot. How to appreciate the outdoors and respect the animals you hunt.

Now it’s your turn to pass it on...

The Scholastic Clay Target Program provides school-age participants in grades 12 and under with the opportunity to showcase their competitive shooting skills and earn state and national recognition.
