HB 2853 - Originally, this bill outlawed possession of a firearm for anyone found guilty, except for insanity, of misdemeanor.

Amendments replaced the entire bill to set up a State Police system to send mental health information to the NICS system.

House Judiciary amended bill to have State Police to adopt rules that identify reciprocal licenses that allow holder of license to carry concealed handgun in another state. Provides persons who possess reciprocal licenses with protections provided to persons with Oregon concealed handgun license. Declares emergency, effective on passage.

The original bill was weakened by the House Judiciary Committee.  It passed the House (54-4).


Senate work session held May 28. Amended on 6/8/09 and sent to Rules Committee without recommendation.  The Senate Committee wouldn't allow the bill to come up for a vote.  .

HB 2764 - Exempts concealed handgun license records from disclosure under public records law. Requires disclosure of information obtained in connection with concealed handgun license under specified circumstances. (Same as HB 2727 )
